Actually, the most prevalent bacterial cause for the so called "flesh eating disease " is Staphylococcus aureus, which most of you must know, are pretty involved with infections (cellulitis) of the fascia/anatomic spaces in the head and neck region.
What's really scary about the so called "flesh-eating disease" or to be more scientific " necrotizing fasciitis" is that the portal of entry can be due to something as simple as a pinprick and sometimes the portal of entry is never identified!!!!
One of my neighbors in Utah had this disease when I was growing up. He recovered but was pretty close to death for a while as I recall. His story was all over the news and I think they even made a mini-TV movie about him.
