Hi everyone!

I've been a long-time lurker on SDN, and I finally came around to creating an account. I was wondering about weather or not my ECs good enough to apply next year.

GPA: 3.97
sGPA: 4.00
MCAT: Janurary 2013, but I am scoring about a 30 on my practice tests

2 years - president of pre-medical society
2 years - treasurer of tri-beta
60 hours - ambulatory surgery volunteer
200 hours - emergency room volunteer
70 hours - shadowing urologist, pediatrician, emergency physician and cardiology
3 years - college tour guide
1.5 years - working on a research project on endocrinology, 1 poster presentation
2 years (250 hours)- working as a research assistant in a state-facility
3 months - intern at meals on wheels
endowed scholar
honor's program
dean's list
award for academic achievement

I am a New York resident, and I ultimately hope to attend state school (specifically, SUNY Downstate, Buffalo, or Stony Brook).

What do you guys think?

You have done very well with your ECs. One thing I notice though is you lack a significant teamwork experience (ie you participated in a non-clinical, non-research activity that you did not lead and required extensive team work). I wish you the best on your MCAT, keep us updated.

I think you've done a very nice job of developing comprehensive ECs. Well done.

Your EC's are on the right track. Provided that you get a strong MCAT score, I am sure you can try to apply to some top tier schools as well. If your MCAT score is in 30+ range (balanced scores as well), I believe applying broadly enough should get you an acceptance to an MD school. Your GPA is very strong keep it up! I am jelly (EC's wise)!

wow dude, i'm so jelly of your ECs. nice work!
