Hello all!
Recently I stumbled upon some pretty good volunteer opportunities and wanted to know if I should be doing more with my ECs. For background, I am a second-semester sophomore

Presidential Ambassador: Involves giving tours to prospective students and potential donors to the college

College to service ambassador for Habitat for Humanity: In charge of recruiting students on campus to get involved with Habitat for Humanity, and volunteering with construction

Medical Scribe: Just got hired in my local ED, yay!

Honor Societies: Psi Chi & Tri-Beta

Research: Conducting 3 research projects since previous summer involving intermembrane protein expression, attitudes toward learning correlated with academic performance, and using an EEG, (we have not really decided what we're doing yet but most likely disorders of psychiatric origin).

Volunteering: Planning on volunteering at WinShape academy with my previous employer Chick-Fil-A to get undeserved kids involved in teamwork, teaching them life skills, and giving them an opportunity to enjoy their summer and get them off the streets.

Any further advice would be very helpful! Thanks!

My recommendation is to find the balance between what you will enjoy doing with what will expose you to the medical field. A leadership role is great but in a healthcare setting is next to impossible to find as a pre-med.

At the end of the day, what's most important is what you learned.

Alright here are my 2 cents. Pres. Ambassador: cool, but low priority, Hab 4 Hum: low priority, Med Scribe: This will get you get clinical hours and expose you to the healthcare field, Honor Society: low priority, Research: these are great and see if you can get anything published, Volunteering: not going to help much. Overall, you need stuff in healthcare because this is what schools are more interested in. On all my interviews, I was never asked about my non-healthcare related EC's.

Still, it's a box to check. Especially the service to the less fortunate
