How badly did I mess up (applying so late)?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
1) How screwed am I applying THIS late in the cycle ?

Ah, just roll with it. A 29R isn't stellar, but it's not horrific, and the rest of your stats are exceptional. It's possible you could snag an acceptance even without the retake.

There is no single right answer to your dilemma, but I would probably just go forward with this application cycle ASAP, and add in your new MCAT score when it appears. If things don't work out, just set your sights on next year.

Overall you're in a pretty good position to get in, even if it's not this time around. A lot of people would kill to have your GPA.

Go with the flow. Find schools in your current range and your new MCAT target range. Apply to as many as you can safely without that second MCAT score, since holding it pushes you back to the end of the cycle.

You will be completely OK. All you need is to get into one medical school and you can be a doctor- and a medical school is a medical school regardless of its "ranking."

You're pretty late. Your chances will decrease notably, but I don't think you're screwed. Get that app in ASAP, and turn the secondaries around immediately. Many schools may not look at you until you have your pending MCAT score, but at least you'll have everything in. You'll be at a fairly severe disadvantage at the schools that shelve you until your next MCAT, unfortunately.

Your MCAT is not low enough to get you screened out immediately, so there isn't much reason to not apply now. Get it over with, and hope for the best.

If I were you, I'd head over the the SSD sub-forum and start pre-writing secondary responses. You're a little late, but if you get your secondaries turned in within a few days of receiving them you'll be doing yourself a favor.
