I have chronic non stop dry mouth every single day. I normally chew gum but that's not an option (could I get a doctors note? It's partially due to a med I take). What are some other options to deal with dry mouth during interviews? It makes me sound like I'm swallowing words

I took a water bottle into pretty much every interview. Admissions secretaries even encouraged us to do so. Not a problem at all. I even was sucking on a cough drop during one interview, and simply explained it was due to a dry throat. Relax--interviews are a little more laid back than you're probably imagining.

Hard candy or cough drops. I'm partial to butterscotch myself.

are you going to ask for a doctor's note to chew gum while seeing patients?

take a bottle of water with you.
consider a lower dose of medication for that day if that is a medically safe and comfortable option.

Makeout with the interviewer. I am certain that he/she wouldn't mind sharing some saliva.

How
Bad does it look if an interviewee drinks water every 5 minutes or less?

It looks like they're a human being who is staying hydrated. Seriously you need to stop worrying about the little stuff/over-analyzing everything. You'll go crazy.

One of the secret qualities we look for in applicants is the ability to resist hydration for at least 10 minutes.

Obviously I'm kidding. Drink however often you like. Maybe try to time your sips during when the interviewer is asking questions in order to avoid awkwardly drinking in the middle of your response, but really, this is nothing to lose sleep over.

Haha, I awkwardly stopped my response in the middle of a sentence because my mouth had gotten so dry, and pulled a water bottle out of my bag. It felt so awkward to me at the time, but it really was no big deal. My interviewer even apologized for making me talk so much non-stop, lol. And I still got accepted. Really it's fine. Just try to time your sips when the interviewer is asking a question, or when you pause naturally, and not in the middle of a sentence like I did. But even then, it's not a big deal. Relax 🙂
