How can you tell who's going into cardiology

by looking at a match list? i imagine they would start as IM, and then get fellowships, but how does that work? are they guaranteed a fellowship when they take the IM res. or do they risk getting shut out and being stuck in IM weather they like it or not?

I don't think it shows up on match lists, and I don't think anyone is guaranteed a cardiology fellowship after residency. It is a seperate application procedure that you go through after you've been a resident for awhile.
