How close are you to acceptance if you are selected for an interview?

I've been hearing different answers for this. Some people say everyone that passes the minimum requirements gets an interview and others say only the better looking applications get selected. Does anyone have any insight on this? If you get an interview, does this mean you just have to do well on that for an acceptance?

Most of the schools I applied to whittled down their applications to about a 10th receiving interview invites. So no, just because you have met minimum requirement does not mean you will attain an interview. If that is the case to the school you applied to I would highly question that school. Also, an interview does not guarantee acceptance. You have to do well in the interview to stand out from the other interviewees to get acceptance. Again, if the schools you are applying to sends interview invites left and right, my prior statement might not stand.

I read that Midwestern typically doesn't grant interviews to people with composite PCAT scores under 50th percentile, my stats are absolutely terrible so I'm wondering whether or not I actually have a chance. Isn't it a well known institution?

Those type of schools that r strict on the PCAT, automatically send you an email to try next cycle if your PCAT score is lower than 50%

Yeah that's what I thought would happen but they invited me to an interview which kind of surprised me.

more than 900 application, select around 288 for interview, and around 120 ish receive acceptance. So if u received an interview, almost half of chance for acceptance

When are you interviewing ? were you on waitlist before??

Depends on the school. At least a 50% or better. Some schools do interviews as a final step to make sure you're not a whacko

These are the new standards for pharmacy school admissions. Don't be a whacko, borrow some money from a bank at 15% interest rate, and show up to an interview. Can't believe they ask "situational" questions... these schools would save a ton of time and money if they asked this question only: "are you able to pay tuition through means of loans or otherwise?"

With the followup question, "And are you willing and able to pay for an additional 5th (or 6th year) in case you run into academic difficulty?"

the interview itself is the selection process. so you're not at an advatnage if that's what you're asking. Sure you're more likely to be accepted than people who didn't get an interview but that's kind of a given...but the interview is where you actually have to shine

In addition, they do review overall application after your interview. It is part of application, weights the same as personal statement, GPA, as well as your recommendation.

So everyone is basically saying, my gpa and pcat scores have passed the looks test, now it's time for me to show who I am and impress in the interview? I just thought my stats would be the deciding factor in me being denied or accepted after an interview.

ur stats only shows that you can handle the workload academically. if you suck at interview, you won't get in.

A candidate with good stat plus an okish interview will get in. A candidate with bad stat plus a stellar interview might still get rejected. It is tricky to predict admission decision base on interview alone. For the school I apply to, they review the entire application after interview. Admission process different with rolling admission. How it work is that u will receive a score for ur interview, they rank the candidate GPA+ interview score +personal essay score +recommendation score etc. The best overall score candidate will get in.

I think Im scared from the interview more than from pcat because I have no control over questions they will ask... and who knows what will come to their minds???

Look at the interview feedback section on this site. Lists what questions each school will ask. Obvioulsy be prepared for "why pharmacy?"
