Hey guys,

I've been trying to find some info or comments on U-Michigan's dental program:
1. the level of difficulty
2. what students have to say about clinicals/didactics
3. living in Ann Arbor
4. chances of specializing
5. the atmosphere of the school
6. perks/problems

but there is very little to be said.... If anyone would like to comment, that would be really awesome.

My impression of the school is overall very positive. From the interview, it seems the faculty and admissions really seems to care to maintain the rigor of the program and they are really invested in improving their program, and catering to students' preferences.

U of M is a great school! The difficultly is more due to the volume of material than the content and this will be true anywhere you go. Any one class isn't terrible, but you're taking 12 of them at a time. The didactic coursework is pretty standard and you'll spend most of your first year in a lecture hall. That being said, we're integrated into the clinics pretty quickly and see patients at the beginning of D2 year. Opinions on faculty are all over the place, but I've been impressed. People that bitch about everything are going to do so no matter where they are. I think acceptance rate for specializing is in the mid 80s, but don't quote me on that.

Ann Arbor is cool because it's more than just a college town, but still smaller than a big city. There is a very supportive atmosphere at school, I feel very comfortable here. Other students and faculty are usually pretty approachable. I get the feeling that everyone wants to be here and that makes a big difference.

Biggest perk: game days
Biggest problem: parking, especially in the winter

There's a quick overview let me know if you have any specific questions.
