So I've been doing a lot of reading online this winter break, and I get the impression that diagnostic laparoscopies are fairly common. I always thought they would be sort of a last resort, since no one likes the idea of elective surgery, and because insurance companies would try to get out of paying for them.
As far as pelvic pain is concerned, are women more eager to have a lap? Are doctors eager to go in and look for a cause of pain? Or is the incidence of pelvic pain and other reasons for diagnostic surgery on the rise?
