It's very common to get top 3, regardless of DO vs MD.
Of all specialties, among those US grads that match, only 14.8% went to #4 or below I believe. Of course this leaves out all of the people who don't match and they clearly go all the way through their list. I have to believe psychiatry is even more optimistic. The match goes one way or the other in general. You get one of your top choices, or you don't match for the most part.
Interviewing at 20 vs 10 only has a slight effect on IF you match, but it can have a huge effect on WHERE you match. That alone makes it worth it to me.Yup, data really supports this. Interviewing at 20 places versus 10 has almost no return for twice the investment and $$. Not saying to you of course as you know that 1000x over, but for applicants knowledge.
