How competitive to get a fellowship or residency?

Mainly depend on GPA? Some else need to improve on during school?

PGY-2 match rate is 77%
Fellowship rate is harder to come by but somewhere around 20 - 35%

Fellowship only 22%? Does everyone wants to do fellowship or has to do fellowship or residency because no retail jobs?

There are fewer fellowships compared to residencies. Getting a fellowship is way harder. A lot of the applicants for PPS are well versed in the field and have extensive experiences.
