Medical How critical is a letter of recommendation from a doctor?

Hello,

I was wondering if not having a letter from a doctor is a deal-breaker for applying?
COVID has disrupted many summer plans and I was wondering how critical a letter from a doc is.

Thank you for any advice in advance.

If you were to look at the Admissions websites (something very few SDNers seem to do carefully), you'll find that very, very few MD schools require a clinician LOR.

It's more a thing for DO schools, but due to COVID, they seem to be relaxing this requirement.

Doctor LORs are always fluff anyway.

On top of what Goro said, even for DO schools, the reason they like to see the letter is just so they know you have "seen the DO way."

I still feel like it is better to have one than not, but I don't think it's a dealbreaker.
