I am pretty sure that I can get LORs from Non-Sciences. I also have good Research & Volunteering for more LORs that I can add to it for additional LORs

How do you guys get the Science LORs specifically? Do you guys visit Office Hours a lot or sit at the front? I'm at a top 20 school where we have like 200 kids a lecture and the Office Hours have like 20 students in there at a time.. It's very hard because of that

I think that's why some people get LORS from Upper Levels most of the time. What about Non-Science majors??

How do you guys handle LORs if your school doesn't have a Premed committee?

Be the smartest of the 20 kids in office hours.

Sent from my SGH-T999 using SDN Mobile

Yeah that works Lol

I think when I ask for one, I'll probably bring a resume or something to assist them in writing one

I'm only a Sophomore but I think I could be fine as long as I don't ask a Prof from Freshman year

All my science LOR's followed the same progression:

1. Take professor's class.
2. Do very well in said class.
3. TA for said professor.
4. Request LOR.
5. Receive awesome LOR.

HTH

If I do well in my Science classes as a Sophomore & Junior, make sure the Prof at least knows me as a person, or show an upward trend in a class, it could be a good LOR

It could help to have 4-5 solid LORs which include the ones from clinical stuff/volunteering.

I know it is kind of early to be thinking about it since I'm only in my 2nd year, but it never hurts to plan early IMO

What do you guys think?

I forged all of my science letters of course!

Isn't that what everyone does?

/s

I got LOR from my science professors because:

-I got A's in their class.
-I went to their office hours 1-2 times a week.
-Participated in discussion sections and answered their questions correctly.

Not that difficult really.

Yeah, being extroverted definitely helps as well.

Its not hard getting the LORs from ECs, it's only the ones from Profs that are hard to get if you're at a big school

Get As, go to office hours, participate regularly. Oh, but don't be annoying when you do this. I know a couple of students who missed that last tip.

Acquiring a LOR can be painful on both ends if you don't do it right. I strongly suggest first making sure that your professor is someone you can make a real connection with before you start trying to build a relationship for a letter. Remember, many teachers can write somewhere close to ~100 letters a year, so you want him to be able to put down something genuine about you.
