I am currently a senior in my last semester of undergrad. I will be taking neurobiology, a senior seminar class that's only for attendance, human psychology by one of the hardest professors at the university, a critical writing class, as well as a lab focusing on metagenomics. I'm been making all A's in an attempt to raise my GPA from a semester where there was a lot of death in my family, and have been making all A's for the past 2 semesters since. What are my chances at finishing my last semester the same way we the others?

Also, I want to go to med school but I know it will be hard with the setback from my GPA, which is now a 3.3. What are my chances of still going to a medical school if I am able to tell them about what happened in my personal statement?

A 3.3 really isn't that bad, but you should also figure out what your science GPA is because that REALLY matters. Keep in mind that it's harder to move your GPA the more classes you have taken, so don't expect it to shoot up too drastically.

Also, another consideration is that you may not want to use your personal statement to explain why your GPA wasn't where you wanted it to be, but rather why you're pursuing medicine. Just some food for thought.

Best of luck.

Thank u. Well I'm taking 5 science classes this semester, and it's currently a 3.45 so I have a chance to bring it up more.....or at least I thought I could.

Strangers on the internet have no way of evaluating how difficult these classes are at YOUR university. Try to talk to people who have already taken this classes.

In my experience the difficulty of a class is 80-90% due to the instructor, not the subject material.

Agree that it's too difficult to tell based on course title. Only people who have taken these classes at your school with your instructors can give you this kind of info. Plus even having easy classes with a lot of busy work can put your grades at risk. One of my hardest semesters in undergrad was only 12 credits in my last year. It was easy stuff cognitively, but there was so much stuff to do it was hard to keep up.

So on top of talking to people who've taken the classes at your institution, also look over the syllabi and see how much reading, homework, papers, exams, etc are in the course to get a feel for the workload and if you're going to have issues with stuff all being due the same day, etc.
