Hello,

I’m a rising senior (technically) in high school, but I’m a full time dual enrollment student and haven’t even been to the physical high school since I was a sophomore; I have about 40 credits and will have my associates degree this coming spring. There is a slight problem, due to various reasons my gpa wasn’t the best in the beginning, however, I have had about 30 credits of straight 4.0’s after receiving two F’s (and two B’s) one semester. (I was forced to take a semester off and picked up the following semester where I turned myself around).

My question is, I understand adcoms use a chart with the “high school, freshmen, sophomore, junior, and senior” grid, but where will my entire associates degree be placed? Will it just be preset in the “high school” spot or will it also be placed in the freshman/sophomore Section?

I really want adcoms to see how far I’ve come in terms of reinventing myself, I’m glad I fixed my act while I was still early in my degree and am continuing to earn only A’s, but I’m nervous that adcoms will ONLY see my GPA under high school, and won’t see how I improved within those credits..

They're going to view it as if you were a student who wasn't in DE...

Regardless of your situation, I think you'll be fine. I say continue to get A's and rock the MCAT. Many people had F's on their transcripts who have gotten accepted to medical school.

Thats not quite accurate. Since this DE Associates degree willbe earned before HS graduation, it will be listed on AMCAS GPA Grid as “high school”. So while it will be part of overall GPA, year-by-year GPA will clearly show as HS. For that reason as well as its unchangeable past history, worrying and speculating on it serves no purpose. The OP needs to just move forward

I understand that at this point all I can do is try my best and keep pushing out A's, I am just curious to see how my GPA will be viewed in terms of sequence. The only reason I am confused is due to this screenshot from a registration guide; the highlighted print is what would pertain to me specifically as a student so I just want clarification. Anyway, It wouldn't hurt to know what I need to eventually figure out in the future and if it helps me become just a bit more relieved then I'll take it.

Doesn't matter if you were "full-time" college student while in high school, you are still in high school and have yet to obtain a high school diploma. All your grades and your overall GPA breakdown for BCPM, AO, and Total for your DE coursework will go into the HS line of the AMCAS application.

I had a friend with a similar situation, and he essentially has 55 credits in his high school line and than his actual UG gpa and stuff went into the freshman, sophomore, junior, senior lines.

Don't worry about this. Do what you can to continue improving and try to keep an eye on the cummulative GPA and sGPA that you have including DE coursework once you go to undergrad. This should serve as additional motivation to kill it at your future UG.
