For those of you who got verified and went to a school that uses credit unit instead of credit/semester hrs. Do you guys know how AMCAS convert the credit unit to semester hrs???

I went to Penn and we use credit unit where regular classes are 1 unit each and labs are 0.5 units. So my intro to bio is 1.5 unit, so is chem and physics.
Do they convert 1.5 unit to 4 semester hrs or 4.5 semester hrs???

Anyone with similar grading system? and how did they convert yours???

Use the following spreadsheet to do the calculations. Be sure to specify that the hours you are entering are quarter hours, and it will do the necessary conversions for you...

But my school do not use quarter hrs. We don't have quarter semesters. We have two semesters a year.

Generally, 1 credit = 4 semester hours. Don't convert credits into hours on your app, just enter them as you see them on your transcript. Your transcript will have a credit conversion key that AMCAS verifiers will use.

Yes i know not to convert on my application. But some of the secondaries ask for credit hrs. and my application is not verified yet.

I mean like at most schools, bio lecture (1 credit at my school) is 3 credit hrs and lab (0.5 credit) is 1 credit hrs. So what i'm asking is, a combined bio lecture + lab (1.5 credit at my school), is it 4.5 credit hrs or 4 credit hrs???

Class worth 1 credit = 3 cred hours
Class worth 1.5 credit = 4 cred hours
