Hey guys, so I am taking a Fung Wah bus from NYC to Boston, South Station and then need to get to my student hosts house. How do i catch a cab? is it like nyc or do i need to call some number first?

Usually there are tons of cabs outside of South Station so you should be fine.
If not, here are some cab numbers:

Metro Cab - 617-242-8000
Boston Cab - 617-536-5010

Similar to NYC, they are all over the place especially at South Station. However, South station is like a 5 minute walk to the Tufts medical campus if that's where your going. If the student lives close to campus, you won't really even need a cab.

If you are comfortable with public transportation, you can also use the subway system out of south station. The red line connects to south station, which then connects to the green line (either D or E line, which goes to the Longwood area/Harvard med if that's where your student host is). It's pretty easy to figure out and cheaper than a cab.

As a Bostonian, I prefer calling cabs than trying to find one. But south station is definitely a bustling transit spot so you'd probably be able to hail one off the street as well.

As long as its not 2am in faneuil hall on the weekends, you shouldn't have a problem finding a cab.

Follow the signs for the street from the bus terminal. Right outside of the terminal there is a cab stand. The T is real easy to figure out too.
