I am applying to schools in the tri-state area of New York such as NYIT, LIU, Touro, Stony and Hunter and perhaps Buffalo area schools. I have a BS in Exercise Science and my overall gpa is 3.05 and about the same for science prereqs. My gre score is 1140 (v460 q680 a4.0). I also have 100 inpatient volunteer hours and I am currently working as a aide in two different locations about 35 hours a week total. I have accumulated about 210 hours of paid work and will continue to accumulate more. Do I have what it takes to be competitive?

I don't know how competitive those schools are, so I can't say how you will do. If it helps any, I had about the same stats but more hours experience and I got into a school.

Having someone tell you that your stats are "competitive" won't do much; you just have to put in the best application you can. Get some more hours in, if you think you can do better on the GRE, retake it. At this point, it's difficult to change GPA and the majority that apply will have a GPA higher than you. Don't get discouraged and keep trying until you get what you want.
