How do the PCAT and DAT differ??

Im taking the DAT in August, and wouldnt mind taking the PCAT for the hell of it... Would i need to study anything additional for the PCAT? The DAT covers bio, chem, organic, and quanitative reasoning (math)... What else would i need to review? thanx!

PCAt is a standardized exam....a "selected" of professor or whoever the harcount company hired to write up the questions...so if anyone have the mind of those selected individual will do well and go on to ....so if you take a class from one unique professor..don't think that you can answer the questions from those "selected" professor or who wrote the exam...this makes it hard to find material to match?... this means, it's not like you take a classes and will do well..so the exam does not represent or indicate anything, if you smart or dumb, etc...but chances.....you can take a class and do well and not do on well on the exam...likewise...studying for the Dat, mcat, gre, that you will do well on the exam....unless you select the right number like the lotto and win, or QUICK pick

Maybe??? So are you saying that if i study for the DAT and do well, the pcat shouldnt be to bad as long as i prepare myself for it? Sorry, really didnt understand everything you said...

Except for the shape manipulation part of the DAT both tests cover much of the same material. In fact some have commented that the Kaplan books for both tests have remarkably similar information on them. If you did well on the DAT you should do fine on the PCAT as well.

The PCAT has sections on math (including calculus) , biology, chemistry (including organic), reading comp, english and an essay. You might also want to look at Harcourts PCAT website.

Also, the organic on the DAT is much more in depth than the organic on the PCAT.

The DAT is very detailed oriented with a number of fairly difficult questions. The material covered on the DAT is very similar to the MCAT, but the questions aren't as grueling. The PCAT is a comprehensive exam that covers more recognition of problem types rather than indepth problem solving. IT doesn't get very complicated and every question doesn't take more than about 30-45 seconds to answer (ideally due to the time constraints). It's a speed test, albeit a long one. The DAT is computerized and about 3 hours long - you get your score immediately afterwards. The PCAT is ~4 hours long and includes an essay whereas the former does not.
