given the rxn

2AB --> 2A + 2B

does r = [A]^2*^2 ? How do we really determine the exponent in rate law? Do we always looking at the coefficient in the rxn? Or deterined from experiment?

Can anyone clear it up? Thanks!

It's determined experimentally. You can't determine it from the simple reaction that's given.
