how do yo do clinical research

Speak with attending physicians you work with. Most will have clinical research.

Keep in mind that there are several types of clinical research. Some are testing new treatments and drugs, while others are chart review to answer a question.
 
another way is to just look at what kinds of things people have going on from their websites. then you email them and ask what you can participate in. email a bunch of them and see who responds. worked for me in undergrad - i'd imagine it's even easier as a medical student. like dr doan says, all it takes is initiative, nothing fancy.

Dr.Doan is giving you great advice, listen to him. Sometimes attendings are too busy to write you back (which I think is completely unprofessional, but thats a different story), so perhaps getting in touch with a resident/chief resident wouldn't be a bad idea. G'luck!
 
Goto medical school web site and look for MDs who are in clinic and have a lab. Either e-mail them or contact them in person.
