How do you use RR path?

I'm curious how people use RR path.

How many times to you read each chapter while going through your course work?

Will you reread or study anything from RR path once you get to that final, dedicated board studying time (the 4-6 week period before test)?

Right now I'm reading each chapter three times along with course work. The book is massive, and I assume I'll continue to use it during that final crunch. I'm just not sure to what extent.

I don't use my course notes all that much. I read the relevant section Robins (usually just once), then switch to RR path as my focus. I try to get through everything for the exam at least three times.

Weekend before exam I don't do any reading, all Rx questions.

Has worked well for me thus far.

This is similar to what I've been doing. I'll go over the course notes when the class is scheduled to go over them. I'll also read the corresponding RR and FA material with it. I'll do Rx Q's throughout the block hoping to finish them by the exam. I'll then continue reading RR and I'll do the questions in Robbins review. Then the few days before the exam I'll go over the course notes again "memorizing" useless **** that our professors ramble about.

I'm glad what I'm doing is similar to other people. I'm curious, however, how many people actually "memorize" Goljan. I've just been reading it and studying/memorizing the key points. It seems, frankly, virtually impossible to memorize this thing cover to cover.

im wondering the same thing! i wonder if those people who have taken the step....who have only used FA UWorld and GOljan as their primary source practically memorized Goljan. It does seem next to impossible to memorize the book. theres a lot of info in there. But i guess the key is repetition. 🙂 idk hopefully people who have taken the exam can give their input!

I think I could recite that whole book from memory. jk

I did use it as a primary source for most of second year, and used it again during step 1. For class, I would write in additional points from the class notes in the margins. It helped me a ton.

The audio lectures are great as well.

I read it once along with coursework. Switched to BRS Path for the shelf (quicker and easier read) and then read it twice in my dedicated study period.

If you are reading each chapter 3 times now you will probably only have to skim during your dedicated step 1 period

I read the relevant section 1-2 times per test and then went all the way through the whole book (with a couple exceptions) twice during board review.

I try to read class notes on a daily basis just to make sure that I am keeping up with the professor's line of thinking. I then read the corresponding sections in BRS Phys to bring all of the foundational stuff back to the surface (ususally over a few days) and concurrently read the Goljan chapter. After reading Goljan, sometimes I read Baby Robbins and it helps to glue everything together. Finally, I try to get through Goljan again and Robbins Qs, (and Q Banks if time permits) lectures etc. As long as you understand things and are constantly re-presenting material to yourself, the only other ingredient you need is good sleep before a test.

If you are really lost, make sure you are reviewing a little phys before each unit --maybe even a little histo so you remember how things are organized.

Got me B's all through the second semester and was hitting the high 240's in practice Step 1 exams (even though I choked during the real thing...😡).
