How does an MCAT breakdown affect chances?

I've heard of schools having overall score cutoffs AND individual score cutoffs. I really can't imagine a school would have a section cutoff above 128 though. I'm by no means an expert in what top 20 schools look for but I doubt your MCAT scores will hurt you.

You're more than fine.

First off 520 is like a 98th percentile subection score.

Upenn which is one of the most competitive med schools stat wise has a 10th percentile around 128. Considering you crushed everything else I would say your MCAT score can get you into any school in the country. Assuming your app is also good.

Thanks, good to know.

Both of those GPA's are still fine for top schools if you're EC's are up to par.

I would look at MCAT scores on MSAR and see what the 10% is for each section.

You're fine, don't be so paranoid. Even with weak ECs that GPA and MCAT will get you in somewhere considering you don't mess up the interview.

Does anyone have any insight into how an MCAT breakdown might be viewed?

I got a 520 with 128 C/P, 132 CARS, 129 B/B, and 131 P/S.

Just wondering if that will not be viewed as highly as it would be if my higher sections were C/P and B/B?
It's questions like this that give sdn a bad name. No school is going to care about how your MCAT has broken down. You were in the top 99th percentile of all test-takers,.

If you had weak science sections then you would have a valid concern . . .
