How does it feel to get into medical school? How does it feel when you open that evelope and read those coveted words which grant you acceptance into the world of medicine and change your lives forever? How does it feel? 'Cause i've daydreamed about that moment for a long time and I know that I may never get to see 'em.

it's like getting a prostitute pregnant. it feels good at first but in the long run you end up paying with your pocket and your soul. hope that helps.

Getting into med school is like a first kiss. When you read the letter, time seems to slow down and nothing looks the same thereafter. You feel like all the work you put in came out to something and you regret nothing. It truley is a wondrous sensation - especially when you get the acceptance on Christmas!

When I called FUHS/CMS and was told I had an interview I was completely thrilled.... that was the turning point for me (since its my first choice). I found out I was accepted two weeks later (over the phone... I called them)... but tried to downplay it until I got the actual letter in the mail making it 'official'. Therefore, I think the best part of the whole process was when I found out I had an interview!!!! I just wept and hugged my cat (who happened to be on my bed at the time) and felt like GOD was giving me a chance at my dreams.... because I really really really want to practice 1) family medicine 2) in Illinois 3) to attend FUHS/CMS due to their amazing anatomy facilities/professors/focus on primary medicine.

Good Luck... and NEVER give up hope .... it will happen if you want it bad enough 🙂

I was excited to say the least. I jumped up and down for 5 minutes and then called the people I care about. It still doesn't feel quite real though yet...

I told a co-worker (a particularly pessimistic one) that I was actually going to become a doctor, and her reply was, "well there is still a lot you have to do before you will be a doctor".
Not the reply I was expecting, but so! true

I showed way more excitement when I received my MSU interview than I did when i got accepted. I mean even deep inside my heart was jumpin when i got the email invite. I received my acceptance on the phone, and all i could say in a very calm voice was "Oh wow", much to the dismay of the dean, who asked me "are u excited?"

Don't knock the "jadedness" and "sarcasm" because that and coffee might be the only thing that gets you through the first 2 years.

In all seriousness though, as much as alot of us in med school hate it, and even though alot of the people in med school that I've talked to have at one point considered dropping out (middle of anatomy), there is nothing that we'd rather be doing, or can picture ourselves doing than practicing medicine...

Yeah, most of the excitment for me came with my first interview (at GWU) and then when I got an interview and travelled to Cornell Med... Everything happens in small steps and chances are you kinda know you are going to get in somewhere before the letter arrives. My first acceptance was an e-mail that was about 3 lines long and still didn't feel entirely real and all. When I got my UCI and SD acceptances, I didn't really get emotional at all, I was just like whew, on to the next one. So, there was no jumping up and down in my case but I guarantee that if I get into Cornell I might need a straight jacket to control myself.

Smartreader it actually feels really really good. I received a few acceptances fairly early and it has made my year so far 🙂. It is almost like someone saying "the past 3.5 years you did awesome, here is your reward".

You will know it yourself. Don't be negative. As you already know SDN can provide with all the crucial info for you to become a successfull MD applicant. I hope that you will get to see them and experience it first hand 🙂 .

It's very surreal to be accepted. Though some of the novelty has worn off, I'm still amazed that I'll be in med school next fall. Anatomy, white coat ceremony, dream come true.

rather than feeling excited (sexually or non-sexually), i felt relieved... but maybe that's cuz I have yet to hear back from my top choices yet. 😀
