I think this question often comes off as cryptic when I ask medical student panels, and I never really seem to get a great response.
My question is, how does your perspective change after you've made it to medical school? Do you find that you are no longer interested in community engagement? Is medical school what you expected? Were you surprised about something? What experiences led you to realize that you were/were not in the right place?
I'm interested less in the medical profession as a whole (re: this question) and more interested in your own individualization of your education. How do you modulate and discriminate opportunities and experiences after your undergraduate studies (where you nod your head up and down at anything that comes your way)?
