How exactly do I submit LOR's?

I'm a little confused on the process of submitting LOR's. Do we obtain them directly from our letter writers and submit them along with the AADSAS application? Or do we give the letter writer an address to send them to (E-mail or conventional mail)? Sorry if this has been asked before, I'm pretty new to this forum 😳

when filling out your AADSAS application you will have to put in your letter writers email address in the field they give you..they will send an email to your letter writers instructing them what to do and how to submit the letter of REC

interfolio will ask for ur AADSAS id number when you send it. It will be fine guys, dont freak out =)

so you don't need to go through a 3rd party service to get this done? My school had a service to do this for like $75. Do you guys with experience think this is worth it or can I just do what was said up above? Any downside to not using a 3rd party service?

Well I went with a 3rd party because I requested LOR from my science professors right after I finished the class, so I'm still fresh in their mind. All my letters will be held by a 3rd party and I can just send them out when ready.

Vs.

If you send them directly with AADSAS, you have to go to each person writing your letter and you must be rushing them to send them in on time.

I would go with a 3rd party. It will cost you money, but it makes it so much easier at the end

I used interfolio to collect all my letters and sent them using these directions:

It made it easy to send my letters promptly and minimized the amount I had to harass my letter writers.

👍 Interfolio is the better choice. You can keep your letters for 2014 in case you dont get into the 2013 cycle. It costs $20 bucks per year and is worth every penny. Plus you can get your letters as early as you want and store them in Interfolio until June when AADSAS opens up and then just forward the letters to AADSAS and you'll be done chasing professors. Esp since most will be away on summer break.

Yes, I agree Interfolio is the best choice. In my school we have partnered with Interfolio so that our students get unlimited mailings for only 30 dollars per year. someone tried putting the discount code on SDN, but I do not think that is allowed. but you could PM someone [cough] who has the code.

The letter writer can either make an interfolio account and upload it electronically or send it in via the mail. I signed up yesterday and what you do is request a letter from your writer and they will be given the instructions as well as options for submission.
