How far back do college courses count in your science gpa?

Is there a time limit on when courses count for sGPA? For example, I took a medical terminology course in high school (11th grade), so probably 2007-08ish? I honestly have no idea why I took the course, it wasn't for any program, etc. but it was free and after all, we're all medical nerds 😉. But it was an "A" and if I end up applying for med school in the next few years does it count in the sGPA? They will obviously see it on my transcripts, just don't know if a course thats around 7 years old will even count.

Anything college class on a transcript counts, unless you're in TX and want to pursue fresh start.

Med schools will not even see high school grades and will in no way factor into your sGPA, or any GPA for that matter.

Med schools will only see college coursework, which will always be on your transcripts.

Med schools are typically only interested in what you've done as an undergrad, and high school doesn't play a part in your application.

Everything that's college level (ie if you took that course at a community college) is counted, even those 20+years old, but you should double check that it'll be classified as a science/BCPM course.

Thanks everyone. And it wasn't a high school course, I took it at the community college while in high school, so as long as its checked off as science, I should be alright.

Correct. But if I remember right, med terminology isn't considered in sGPA because its not BCPM.

Only way around this is if the course prefix is in the biology dept.

Yea, sucks if it doesn't count though, because it wasn't just learning what words meant, it was actually going through body systems and learning a little about physiology. But I'm sure it's been put on there by plenty of people, so the worst thing that can happen is get knocked out. Wouldn't make or break me but was just curious.

Any college level class will be on your application and factor into your GPA, but they'll see that you took the class when you were in High School. It kind of sucks to be honest. I took 72 units of college coursework in high school, which brings down my actual undergrad GPA by 0.2.

Yea if your not sure it doesn't hurt to try and label it bcpm especially if it was under the biology department.
