The nearest PCAT testing center for me is over 400 miles away! 😱 However, the closest MCAT location is under 20 miles away. For some reason I seem to recall reading somewhere that schools would accept the MCAT in lieu of the PCAT if the PCAT was not offered in your state. Any truth to this? How far did you travel to take your test?

400?! where do you live? alaska?

i'll be taking the exam at a nearby community college near my school and it'll take me about 10 min. to get there. if i don't spot any cops on the way, maybe 5 min. 😀

I have never heard anything of the sort. Even if it was true, the PCAT is a lot easier if you remember your math and are good at analogies + sentence completions. So, getting an 80+ is better than pharmacy schools having to interpret a 30+ even though such a MCAT score is good. But as I said, I've never heard about that exemption so its best to ask your schools directly.

By the way, it only took me 10 minutes via car to get to my testing location. 😀

About 250 miles. Last year for the June PCAT here in Colorado they decided it would be a bright idea to hold it in Grand Junction on the other side of the state rather than in the Denver metro area or Boulder. The worst part was that there was some sort of country music festival so hotel rooms were way inflated for that one night. Only 8 people showed up to take the test. I'm guessing whoever decided to have the test there had no clue that Grand Junction is near the Colorado/Utah border.

I don't know how many miles, but I have to drive at least an hour and a half away in michigan to get to my test center. I think the drive will help settle my nerves though. :bullcrap:

I thought the last one I took was bad (~40 miles away).

The next one I'm taking is ~60 miles...but compared to you guys, doesn't seem so bad...I'm going to be sleeping @ home tonight...

I'd probably be better off if I was in Alaska considering they have 3 testing locations! I'm in Maine and the closest facility seems to be Albany. :'(

wow..there isn't a single testing center in the New England area?

i had no idea people were traveling so far to take the exam.

Make sure you double check all the cities.

For example in August there were no exam centers in Jacksonville, but there was one in Orange Park, FL (which is right outside the city limits). Only a 30-40 minute drive for me. But everything is a 30 minute drive in Jacksonville 😀

I won't be taking the PCAT until next June...but I'll probably have to drive about 2 hrs.
Anyone know what happened with the testing center in Lexington, KY? I could have sworn there was one there...and I checked the other day and it's not listed...just two other cities in KY.

what about MA? I'm going to one in salem, but there's generally at least one around the boston area.

Assuming there is no traffic it would take me about an hour to drive to UCB (approx 50 miles) from San Jose. Im suprised that San Jose doesn't have a testing center and I thought it was pretty big city.

I drove about 30 or so minutes with a friend (who was also taking the test), and stayed in her sister's dorm the night before the test. Was much nicer to get in that little bit more sleep and not have to drive so far in the morning.

I registered late so all the available locations near me were full. I live in Houston but I had to go to Austin to take mine which is about a 2 to 3 hour drive.. I just went the day before, stayed at a hotel and left the afternoon after the test. It wasn't too bad 🙂
