I'm just wondering whether all you predents and dental school students have perfect teeth. Perhaps I'm a bit too critical of myself but I definitely don't think I do. Despite using the whitestrips a few times, my teeth still have a bit of a yellowish tint. Also my maxillary lateral incisors seem disproportionately small and short compared to my centrals. Yet, I haven't had a cavity since I was like 8 years old.

The max lats are supposed to be slightly shorter than the centrals but you make it sound like they are really short. I can't tell without a picture.

BTW 'normal' people don't have the pearly whites. The celebs tend to though 🙂.

How much coffee/tea do you drink? Do you smoke?

How yellow is 'yellowish tint'?

I am not one of those who have wanted to be a dentist since my parents conceived me. My mouth is so full of metal that I set off the security gates at pretty much every airport. Plus, I am congenitally missing #10, so I am planning on having an implant placed once ortho is finished. One last thing, I fractured #8 and #9 on the hood of my friends mustang 18 years ago. Because they are composited, I cannot bleach my teeth because the composites show unless I would replace the composite. I won't do that because the composites have held up for 18 years and are still in excellent shape. Why mess with a good thing if it isn't broke. Once the composite needs replaced, then I will go with a lighter shade and bleach my teeth to that color. Until then, A2 they will stay.
awesome

not exactly necessary, but there are options of porcelain veneers that could fix small teeth or discoloration, but I wouldn't worry about it that much and veneers are practically worth their weight in gold 😛

I feel like my teeth are pretty nice... but my dad is a dentist, and a perfectionist...

No lie.. he brushed my teeth til I was like 12 (and when I was allowed to do it myself I had to have him check them before bed... I kid you not)

and of course I wear a bruxism appliance at night... super sexy, my hubby loves it

i didn't know i wanted to pursue dentistry until the end of college, but i've always cared a lot about my teeth ever since i was young... so they're in pretty good shape.

+1 minus the bruxism device 😀

According to dentists, I have a "healthy" mouth...according to me, my teeth suck. Before the age of 4, I had 14 root canals on my baby teeth due to caries. Due to oral surgeries, I am missing 8 teeth, but have 2 implants. My mouth is half amalgam and half composite, and I get new cavaties about every 6 months. Also, I have genetically bad teeth because many of my family members have lost their teeth. I drive my friends nuts sometimes because I am the person who brushes, flosses, and rinses in the bathroom of a restraunt after eating. I will be the first to admit that at one point in my life I did want my teeth to fall out-I am dental phobic too. However, that was years ago, but now, no matter what I do, I still manage to have problems(cavaties, root canals, etc) that are not linked to oral surgeries. I don't whiten my teeth either because I tried once and the crest white strips burned my gums, and if I did whiten now, it would look dumb because of the composite in the front and the implants on the side.

If you only have had a few cavaties and healthy teeth, be thankful because it could be alot worse!

Had braces but tossed my retainer after a year. Granted, things moved. I also have a really interesting filling in #18; looks like a small pool of mercury in my mouth, no anatomy whatsoever. Would be neat to due a chewing efficiency study on it. . .

have a veneer front tooth, root canal on that tooth. I have a missing first molar. In its place is a baby molar.

I drink copious amounts of coffe, and used to smoke. They're probally average as far as the "yellowish tint". I just want the pearly whites, haha. The fact that I have a small white spot, dental fluorosis?, on my front tooth probally adds to the contrast of pearly white vs normal tooth color. The spot probally isn't noticable unless your right in my face staring at my teeth, but thats what I do in the mirror so it bothers me.

I think my "max lats" are probally a little shorter than what would be considered normal, yet not so short that something is clearly wrong. I do have a bit of space between this tooth and my canine. I remember driving home from the orthodontist once and my mom going on a rant about how we're not going to be movie stars and the dentist wants to do all this expensive stuff to our teeth. Makes me think they purposely left room for a veneer or bonding or whatever, and my parents were just cheap asses.

The relative sizes of my teeth look sort of like this w/o the crazy gumline/canine, but my max lat seems to almost come in at an angle, toward the central incisor, leaving a small gap.

Its not really that bad, just could be better.

i'm one of the lucky few with perfectly straight teeth and nary a cavity. ever. i bleached my teeth a few years ago with amazing results.....but due to copious amounts of diet pepsi my teeth aren't so white anymore.

now i'm fighting bruxism, and losing. it sucks that my perfect teeth are being ruined by ...myself. what exactly are these 'bruxism apparatti' that i'm hearing about? i have a mouthpiece, but it makes me gag. what do ya'll use?
