how good is the Kaplan DAT course?

i am thinking about taking it but im not sure if it will be worth the $1400. is it as good as their propaganda says that it is?

hell noooooooooooooooooo.

you can save money, depressing score, and waste of time by using their thick blue book to review the basics wish is for $65 along reading AP cliffs bio, then move on to destroyer and hit it really good for like 4X, then go to achiver exams, after that you feel that you need to review everything again, do it and review really good, then take TS exams week before exam and hit that exam.
note: CDP is a must to do good in that portion
note: weak in math review a SAT book then practice CDM take the 25 exams

all in all you might spend $500, so 1400-500= $900 alot of money saved, score better, and all that requires work not just using what I said, you need to study alot for like 2mon.

I say that bec I had the experience with kaplan DAT 18/17/17 then switched to what I said above 20/20/18

This sounds good... i dont think CDP is a must.. i idnt use it and did well...
online material for kaplan is really helpful, IMO
the class is useless.. if you want kaplan just by the online stufff---its A LOT of stuff if you get through it al you shoudl be good.
supplement with kaplan blue book and Barrons Bio.... and I used Top score exams.
I dont think you need anythign else really...up to you and your comfort level tho

IMO the Kaplan course is for people who are too lazy to pick up a book and read that they rather pay someone to tell them when and what to read. The only thing good about Kaplan are the review exams they give....If you can get your hands on these then you will do well surely....I got a hold of these and my grades drastically improved and some questions were also repeated on my actual DAT exam .

I would do the online portion, but I would not go for the classroom. I didn't think the class helped at all and I got private tutoring that was pointless.

How do you get a hold of the online stuff from kaplan without taking the course? How do you get the practice exams/question bank? I am contemplating taking the class but am leaning towards not going that route. Thanks

I would NOT go for the class. If I am not mistaken you can just order and pay for the online material (and that is what I would do). The online material (i believe) has all of the practice exames and a break down of the different sections with questions from these sections.

Yea, I bought the online practice tests from somebody who had taken the online course. So if you're interested, I can resell. They're in pdf format so I can email them to you and you can print them out and go over them.

I wouldn't enroll in the actual class or the online course....a waste of money. As long as you have the Kaplan BB and the online subject tests, you should be good to go. I thought the questions were on-par with what was on the actual DAT.

Some people swear by Destroyer, but I thought the Kaplan stuff was adequate. The kaplan PAT questions are easier than the PAT on the real test, so you might want to consider getting extra practice with Crack DAT PAT too.

I think it really depends on the instructor in class. I have attended two different sections. The first one was not helpful at all (she just read everything off the book, this is pointless because you can read the book at home instead). The second one was a lot better because at least she gave us some tips from her personal experience. But i think it doesn't worth that money because the key is just STUDY. You can buy many prep. materials and study on your own. That way you save yourself a lot $$.

Like anything else in life, it is what you make of it. Some people are audio/visual learners, so having someone explain things helps them learn. Others can pick up a book and be experts. If you go into the class thinking you will be spoon fed and not have to take the time and effort into doing well on the test, it's a waste of money. If you use the class as a study aid, it can be an invaluable resource.
