Hi SDN,

I've recently finished interviewing at a couple of my top choice schools. Can someone tell me how important post interview correspondences are (i.e. letters of interest, letters telling them why i would be a good fit or why i love their school etc)?

Thanks!

I didn't write any thank you letters, letters of interest, or updates. They certainly can't hurt though. I think it also gives you more peace of mind during the stress of the application season. If you do anything that will strongly improve your app (new EC, fall grades, etc.), it's certainly worth sending an update.

I wrote thank you letters because I would have been embarrassed to meet my interviewer some day if I had not. Most of them are not making bank by doing interviews and stuff. I don't think they have enough time to really consider thank you letters into the admissions decision.

Letters of intent and interest have a variable weight with schools. All schools take them with a grain of salt though.
