How important is a supplemental essay?

Okay. Writing essays is the most difficult task for me in the application process. Maybe it's because English is not my first language... and also I'm naturally terrible at writing.

This is killing me since I applied to many schools each of which requires more than one essay!!

Is it extremely critical to write excellent supplemental essays?

Am I going to be screwed even though I get into school if I can't write at the professional level?

Does anyone else think writing is hard?
