I'm about to take the final for Physics 1. Our university grades on a point based system. 4.0, 3.5, 3.0 and so on.
I'm projecting I'm going to get a 2.5 on physics. While I respect the subject and its applications, I hate this course. I have no interest in being an engineer. Physics has been so difficult for me and I don't know why. I've done well in all my other biology and chemistry courses. Its like my Kryptonite.
I'm hoping that adcoms will see my other grades and just over look physics since its not even on the DAT.
I'm applying this upcoming cycle.
I've been able to:
4.0 Organic chemistry 1 and 2
4.0 General Chemistry 1, not finished on 2 (projection at least a 3.5)
4.0 Microbiology
4.0 Biochemistry
4.0 Pharmacology
4.0 Human Physiology 1& 2
3.5 Cell and Molecular Biology
3.5 Organism and Population Biology
3.0 Pathophysiology
2.5 Calculus
2.5 Biology lab 1&2

Overall GPA 3.59
I hate physics so much.

Just depends on how low it brings your GPA. Semester not over yet, try and get that 3.0. Use youtube, ect.

Luckily with the textbook my school used, god sent an angel who created an entire video solutions manual online. I was so grateful for that lol.

Depending on how badly you did in it.UNLESS you're failing it then you should be somewhat okay.

But that is the weirdest sGPA record I've seen in a while. 4.0s Biochem and Micro but badly in calculus and physics? I take it you're not a math person. At my school, you'd be lucky to get a B in Biochem and Micro. Slept through calculus and got an A ... but that might be because Im Asian.

I know I hear that over and over again. It confuses me as well. Biochemistry's average exam scores were 55%, I was getting 96-99% without trying too hard. I also 4.0 Genetics from just looking over my friends notes before the exam. I genuinely think biology courses are interesting, and I'm pretty sure I'll always 4.0 them (except for lab). On the other hand I have trouble doing algebra. I hate math and actively avoid it. For some reason, I thought my last math course was going to be in high school. Oh and I'm Asian too, so everyone assumes I'd be a math genius. God help me on the Quantitative reasoning portion of the DAT.

are you taking calculus physics?

No I took a comprehensive calculus which was supposed to be easy lol. I'm taking Physics 1 now, and Physics 2 in the summer. Adcoms won't see my physics 2 grades.

Physics are important as any courses listed on the requirements for every dental school. Try to get that to 3.0 if you can, but if you fail to do so it is not the end of the world as long your oGPA, sGPA, BCP and DAT scores are solid then you still have a great shot to dental school.

I think you will do fine! On a side question, do you know if it makes a difference if you take Phys 100 level Calculus based, but for the second semester of physics you complete the sequence with Phys 200 Algebra based? That's the only way I could fit physics in my schedule for next year 🙁

Are you handling physics in a similar fashion?

I have to admit I don't put in the time that's probably required to do well. But when I watch the lectures, I can't seem to comprehend the information like I do in other classes. I find physics frustrating. I've accepted that it's a subject that isn't for me, and I'd really like to just get over with it.

Bad mentality to have. You aren't giving yourself the option of learning the material because you're "giving up" when it doesn't click like your other classes. Sounds like you hate the class because it requires you to work for a good grade which you didn't have to do for bio chem or genetics. I'd suggest spending more time with the material before making statements like "I hate physics so much."

And you'll have to send in an updated transcript with your physics 2 grade once the course is over.

Well I assumed since my application would be turned in during July, and Physics 2 finishes in August, they wouldn't be seeing it? Unless, they ask for an update.

In addition to the initial grades input (that includes listing future grades), AADSAS have an option to update the future grades if you had any around Dec-Jan.

If accepted, schools (at least mine does) require you to send in a final transcript of your spring semester ... so no getting around it.
