How in demand is consulting?

Piggy-backing off the question about inpatient jobs- which had a great discussion. I'm interested in pursuing consulting jobs after residency- possibly through US Physiatry. But I dont know much about job outlooks. When I look for jobs they all seem to be either inpatient or outpatient pain. Was curious if anyone here does consulting or knows more about it. Thanks for your help
