If you want to feel better, I'll tell you there is a trend I have noticed. The people from recognizable undergrads are generally doing better in medical school. This isn't true for everyone, but there is definitely a general trend. A couple of our top dogs went to ivy league/tough undergrads. The bottom 25% of our class are mostly people from no name undergrads in the middle of nowhere who are not really used to the rigor study habits and quite frankly are getting s**t on. Most are passing, but let's just say they wont get an outstanding letter from the dean for having no honors.

Again, in before I'm called out on because someone's best friend went to FYourMom Community College and is #1 in their med school class and other n=1 stories, I said MOST. It is a general trend, but there are still people from UC schools at the bottom of the class because they live it up with the whole "I'll still be a physician in the US" thing. Likewise, there ARE people from FYourMom Community College who are doing exceedingly well because they are just better students in general and had to go to FYourMom Community College due to some circumstances.

Do you have a full-time job, a child, or a similar responsibility? Because all of those people out-work you. So does anyone in the military and anyone at CalTech. Lots of engineers probably outwork you at most schools. Plenty of people outwork you.

Try being a D1 athlete and routinely dealing with stuff like getting off the bus at 4 am only to take your orgo final at 8am. Hours wise it can be worse than a full time job, especially sports like baseball. Everyone has different circumstances, don't automatically assume that yours are the toughest. Sometimes its best to have some humility and just find a way to reach your goals as best you can. But don't put others down because you've seen a shallow part of what you think they have been through and therefore judge them to be inferior.

For MDs, they do take the undergrad name into some consideration, whether people like it or not. It isn't a huge difference, but it's still there despite what people on SDN say. However, a 3.2 from Johns Hopkins undergrad will never be better than a 4.0 anywhere else.

For DO, they don't care at all if it were Harvard or College of the Dessert.

Person B with a 3.8 is comparable to a Person B with a 3.8 at a CC.
But the person A better not dare to take any classes at a CC?
