I want to apply to a post-bac program, but then ultimately want to apply to a medical school. I know if you took classes twice, the MD schools average out the grades. How do post-bac programs calculate my gpa, because I'd imagine there'd be a difference.

Also, what kind of courses count as BCPM? Do science-focused courses under the Psych department or Anthro department count?

I'm not certain with your first question...I believe that there would be a separate section for a post bacc. I'm not sure how it will be calculated, but if you make sure to do well, it would show a positive trend which might count more positively.

As for the BCPM, I do not believe that psych or anthro would go into the calculation. Biology Chemistry Physics Math. Psych and Anthro would be social science classes.

Post-bac programs (if they are gpa enhancers) usually calculate the grades like medical schools. If done at an MD school they average out all of the grades for the same course. If done at a DO school the highest grade will be used. Usually they end up calculating BCPM, non-science, and overall GPAs. (just like AMCAS/AACOMAS)

If it is a post bac designed for people who still need to take med school pre-reqs they would calculate it differently since many people entering those programs would not have enough science classes to calculate a BCPM.
