My aunts and uncles are all Temple pharmacy alumni. Between all 11 (60 school years) of them, they were only mugged 16 or so times (I am not trying to be either humorous or sarcastic with that statement).
Temple is a solid school tucked in the worst neighborhood (warzone?) in Philadelphia. Broad St. was and is rather infamous for its crime rate directly linked to lack of appreciable police enforcement. The campus itself is a safe haven, although students are still warned to travel in groups.
UIC is in a tough neighborhood, but nowhere as bad as Temple, although the clinical profs are considered to be third-rate posers with inferiority complexes compared to Michigan and Wisc. I've heard major horror stories about how their clinical profs treat their students from visiting interns.
Given the choice, I'd go to UIC, because it's safer. Hope this helps.
