Ah let me clarify:

When should you drop an evaluator for another evaluator?

I.E. Eval #1 takes 4 weeks/non responsive etc- should you stick with eval #1 or look for another Eval #2.

Just wondering what you guys think is the time "to move on" and look for another Eval #2.

When should you ask for another LOR if one/two/three/four is lagging?

I am not sure what you are exactly asking here.

But if your prof ignores your request for a LOR, you should email one more time to ask him if he has received your email or contact him in person.

Ah yes, it was confusing. Fixed it just now 👍

I think you should ask the evaluator first, then if he/she agrees to write you a LOR, then you add it in to AADSAS, because if you don't ask first, then 1. profs might get annoyed that you just added them and they are getting spammed by aadsas
2. you want to get on the same page with them to make sure they'll write good stuff about you, otherwise, who knows what they'll write lol, *knock on wood

I'm just curious, how common is it to run into this problem? My professor has expressed his willingness to write this letter on SEVERAL occasions. I have been trying to contact him by e-mail and phone for over 2 weeks with no response. He was contacted by AADSAS on June 3rd. This is absolutely ridiculous and I would like to start taking action to request a letter from another prof. HOWEVER, I feel that that is also somewhat problematic...does anyone have any advice on how to go about requesting a letter at this point? I feel like it's irresponsible and unfair to request a letter within the next week or two but idk what else I can do at this point....I'm so incredibly pissed that the first guy has put me in this situation after I have invested so much time, energy and money into the application process and gave him MONTHS to write this letter😡

I can totally relate to this, keep on harrassing him! there are jack*****es out there, but unfortunately, such is life 🙁. Still waiting on my LOR too

I was in the same boat (thats why I made this poll). Long story made short, I made a bunch of phonecalls/emails and found a few willing profs to write a recommendation in the upcoming week. (And yes, I did get alot of "I cannot do it at this time" "I'm not available etc", but you gotta keep trying)

Let me tell you what is on the line if you don't take charge/change your LOR.

One: Noone will consider your ap until it's complete

Two: If Prof sends it on July 15th, it will probably get sent out in the next mailing batch.

Three: Mailing batches could be filled up. Therefore, its probable that your LOR gets sent out on mailing list #5+. That means you're technically applying in Late July, or August which is TERRIBLE.

If your professor doesn't act, then you gotta act. Either find someone else or keep trying. But by trying- you run the risk of pissing them off and getting a bad rec. IMO its better to find a prof to write a rec thats avg rather then holding off and waiting for a decent rec. Early birds always get the worm. Especially in dental aps.
