I took the april 23rd MCAT and didn't do as well as i might have liked (24N). I'm signed up for the July 8th, but i'm so busy right now working 2 jobs and trying to get shadowing in that i'm afraid i'm going to not improve my score, or do even worse. I'm debating on pushing it back but I didn't know how late I could get away with without getting screened out for secondaries. Anybody have any thoughts?

Did you study well? Are your practice tests showing improvement? Do you feel like you can score higher then last time?
If you answer no at any of those, I'd say you should consider pushing back. No point in taking another mcat if you don't think your ready to get a higher score.
If you did study hard and are doing good on your practice tests. Then go for it. Just get a full nights sleep and eat a good breakfast prior to taking it ( Good luck 🙂).

I took the January MCAT and didn't finish secondaries until March. If you're a strong applicant, you'll be ok. Obviously the earlier the better, but it's not the absolute death sentence that some say it is to apply in November.

I was in the same boat. 23 first time around in April, thought I would be okay since I had solid LOR, ECs, 3.87c and 3.72s. got rejected at many schools right off the bat. I had one interview come december and they said they wanted to see a higher mcat score. I raised it up to a 27 (didnt find out until early march). From mid dec. to end of january I studied my ass off while working 40 hrs a week. I really had no life but that studying got me into that school after they saw the score. Now if I had had this score say july-october I'm sure I would have gotten many more interviews and hopefully some more acceptances. My advice would be to take it! You know what you are weak in. Don't convince yourself you know the material when you don't. PM me if you want to know how I went about studying the 2nd time around.
