I was just wondering how long it took you guys to be eligible to apply for Dental schools.

For example, did you finish all your pre-requisites for Dental during your first three years and completed all the left-over requirements for (Insert major here) during the fourth year of undergraduate?
I'm asking this because I was wondering if I can apply to Dental school after finishing all the pre-requisites at the end of my third year of undergraduate, or do I have to wait until I get a bachelor's degree?

What if I finish the pre-requisites after my third year, but it takes me two more years after that to get my bachelor's degree in lets say Marketing? Then I would have to apply after my fourth year, right?

(Yeah, I know. I'm a total Newbie.) And thanks in advance!

yes normally students apply their 3d year ( junior year) for the year after ( dschool starts after you end ur senior year in july/aug).

Ideally you apply after you have taken the DAT.

Ideally you take the DAT after taking bio 1, 2, chem 1, 2, ochem 1, 2, along with any subjects that correspond to the DAT. Along the way you work in research, ECs, LORs, service, shadowing.

Just make sure you take a chemistry every semester. I put off taking gen chem and it ended up delaying me a year in application. I took DAT as a senior, applied, and had 8 months off school before dental school starts.

You can apply to Dental schools before finishing your pre-reqs from what i hear, as long as you have most of them down and you look like an extremely likely candidate to finish them by the time you graduate
But would you want to do that? The DATS test you on course material from your pre-reqs, and upper level bio courses would also greatly help your score. Im an incoming junior, ill be taking my dats by next summer and applying already. If you take science courses in the summer, and plan out exactly how youll do it, you could finish in 4 years and be in dental school right after no problemo.
