Hey guys, I'm developing a plan and want to make sure that I'm not working too slow (one of my weaknesses). How long does it take for you guys to do a 46 or 48 Q block from Kaplan, Rx, or Uworld?

I'm assuming around 1 min per question, but I'm more interested in review time after that. I know it's very variable, but would you say 2-3 minutes extra for each Q is sufficient for planning?

Thanks

I had gone through Rx at 48 questions / 8-10 hrs / day EARLY in my prep.

Kaplan came later, and that was much faster: 100 Qs / 6-8 hrs / day.

UWorld was similar to Rx. LATE in my prep: 50 Qs / 6-10 hrs / day.

Wow. 48 Q's in 8 hours? That means 7 hours to review 1 hour of questions?

How did you review? Did you try to memorize everything? So basically you could only do 75-100 Uworld Q's a day?

I did USMLE Rx VERY EARLY in my prep, when I still didn't know anything. That's why it took 8 hours to do 48 questions. Late in my prep, when I had looked at Rx again, it would have taken me a fraction of the time had I gone through everything again.

Kaplan was double the speed of Rx because 1) I had already developed some background from Rx, and 2) the explanations didn't require quite as many annotations.

I went through UWorld late in my prep at the same speed I had gone through Rx early in my prep. Although I had sufficient background at this point, I went through meticulously strictly because UWorld has always been known as the apotheosis of resources, so I wanted to appropriate adequate time to it.

I do the block in an hour. Review + making anki flash cards with it takes about 1.5-2 hours on top of that.

Honestly though, the review can vary a lot. Sometimes, I may notice there is a large class of drugs or diseases that keep tricking me up, and I might just stop and dedicate some time to hammering them all in. Other times, I have a lot of questions that seem rather easy, and I don't spend forever on reading it.

I was wondering this myself.

So far only doing Rx on tutor mode, by organ system. About 3 hours per block. Lately 4 hrs bc I'm weak in this organ system.

This is pretty much what I've been doing.

Reviewing UWorld seems to be going much faster than Rx, even though the one plus of Rx was that it would tell you where to find the info in FA. UWorld explanations are much better overall, and there are often a good number of easier questions that I don't need to spend time annotating/studying.

Maybe I am doing something wrong (or right?!) but it takes me about 30 minutes to answer a block of UWorld questions, and then I go thru all the answers (right & wrong) and annotate into FA whatever's missing, and that part takes me about an hour.

How are you guys spending 6-8 hours per block?? To be fair, I am not *memorizing* the info in the UWorld explanations, I'm just going over them.

Rx questions should not take you more than 1-1.5 hours per block. They're straight out of FA usually, and have included page numbers, so annotation is minimal.

A little over 10% through UWorld and each block is taking forever to review. Annotating way more than Rx (next to none). Hopefully this speeds up soon.
