How long does it take to get my primary verified, if I submit it today or in a few days for early decision and regular decision respectfully?

Hey everybody,
So, I was wondering how long does it take to get my primary verified, if I submit it today or in a few days for early decision and regular decision respectfully? Would it be verified pretty quickly for early decision? Thank you all so much for all of your time, insight, and assistance..... it is all greatly appreciated!!!!! ..... 🙂

Why this cycle especially?
If OP hasn’t submitted yet, he has to wait up to 8 weeks for verification which means it won’t be transmitted until 5-6 weeks after schools get applications. That means schools won’t review it until 5-6 weeks after their other early decision applicants. If they decide to reject OP, that means he’s lost at least a couple of weeks when he could’ve been applying to other schools.

So, is it realistically going to take 8 weeks from now to be verified or could be sooner?

AAMC has stated that verification can take up to 8 weeks after they receive all of your transcripts and you submit. So it could be sooner but it could also be 8 weeks. You can check out this thread where people are putting information about when they submitted vs when they got verified. It looks like they're still working on the first batch right now of people who submitted 5/28-6/1.

I submitted on 5/28 an hour after the application opened. It's been 3 weeks and I'm not verified yet.

I'm not sure how this year has affected things, but early decision last year was almost always verified within 3 days regardless of submission date. I'm unsure if ED deadlines have changed at all, but previously I think ED school had to respond by October, which meant after they reject you in October, AMCAS could then recognize you could add more schools a few days later, then those schools could send you secondaries whenever they want (I had 1 come 1.5 months after all my other ones - I was not ED). You would then be late to every other school and have a limited chance of getting in. That being said, no clue how things play out this year.

I forgot that ED was verified faster. The Covid FAQ page doesn't mention anything regarding ED except the due dates are still the same. Maybe they would still have the capacity to do it in 3 days but this year is really up in the air.

Because of the pandemic.
1) Many colleges are working remotely and/or with reduced staff. Getting transcripts sent electronic.
ally, faxing, and especially by mail, is slow
2) if paper transcripts (which last year 50% were) the USPS is moving slower because there is a huge reduction in commercial flights which often carry the mail
3) The AAMC workforce and processing center that does verification is not formally opened. There is a skeleton staff that is checking mail box and scanning in transcripts. that itself can take 10 business days
4) whether electronic or paper, it can take up to 15 business days to be marked received.
5) only after both primary application and all transcripts have been received, do you enter the verification queue and wait your turn

My transcripts have already been received! Is it possible to switch from early decision to regular decision, if there was a huge delay in processing? Does the AAMC and AMCAS allow that?

You can't switch after submitting (99% sure). Otherwise, everyone would submit ED and switch to regular to get faster verification.
