From the first pass to the final pass/practice test, how long would you estimate you spend on a single anatomy lecture?

I'm taking anatomy right now and its taking me hours just to get through a single lecture. And even with all this time put in I'm still not hitting the amount of detail that's required to do well on the BRS anatomy questions. I'm on upper limb and I'm finding it really difficult to learn about all the muscles in the hand, their origin/insertion/innervation, etc. Plus it seems like my lectures don't cover all the detail in the book. Like we never went over the "cubital fossa" even though its emphasized in BRS.

How did your school not cover the cubital fossa? Anyway, scrap the insertions/origins. Even if you get a question or two, it's worth saving hours on that useless trash. And UMich is better than BRS if your school tests anatomy in a clinical context.

BRS will kick your ass (even if you have a good understanding). It's good to use a few days out to try and understand material you don't know you don't know. Don't use it the night before. I second using UMich. We've actually had a couple questions pulled from the UMich written portion. They tend to stress the important stuff that professors like to test.

BRS quests are self explanatory. If you get less than 80% of the quests, it means a lack of knowledge.

As for your question, it takes me approximately 2-3 days to power through 2-3 wks of lecture materials. Make sure that you learn the contents in lecture cold and use lab time to get tutorials from TAs and other students to reinforce the materials. Screw dissection and focus on your study.

upper limb was the hardest for me so far probably b/c it was the anatomy i've ever learned

now, it takes me ~3 hours first pass (including making anki flash cards). i don't look at the lecture again until the weekend before the exam

i have head and neck next, so i'm sure that'll be the hardest

do you find anki to be helpful? also do you do that 3 hour pass in one sitting or do you space it out over a day or a couple of days?

For anatomy it took me around 3 hours per lecture. 1.5 first pass, 1.5 second pass. UMICH and BRS were great, although BRS was more hit and miss.

definitely if you learn how to make effective flash cards and do all the cards that the app tells you to do each day

i usually try to do a pass in 1 sitting so that i get the full picture of that lecture
