How long has your mental illness lasted?

i don't believe a people with mental illnesses should be allowed to be practicing physicians. as a person of influence, a physician should be of healthy mind and body. we should be role models.

it's the blind leading the blind, otherwise.
What about Axis II disorders? 😉

In my oppinion, someone with an Axis II disorder would have a harder time being a physician than someone with an Axis I disorder. But with proper treatment anything is possible.

FYI, There are physicians who are blind. There are physicians who are deaf. There are physicians who are paraplegics. How dare you judge? Are you God?

Pretty scary, let me understand you...doctors are suppose to be exempt from all the ailments of the world...wow, i didn't know that...does that mean when I become a doctor I am less of a doctor if I catch a cold. I knew my doctor was inadequate when he said he had a fever. I am getting a new doctor!! 😛

type-B, I was reading some of your other threads (since closed) and I want you to clarify something for me. What exactly did you mean by "holding records in Bulgarian weightlifting"?

First of all I'm not even sure what you mean by "Bulgarian weightlifting", I assume you mean "olympic weightlifting", a sport that is dominated in the lower weight classes by Bulgarian athletes. If this is what you meant then you are a complete *****, because no one that actually knew anything about weightlifting (the sport, not the general activity) would call it that.

Instead of building up your ego by comparing your athletic prowess with a bunch of medical students why don't you take it where someone cares.

Try the message boards at http://www.trackandfieldnews.com to discuss your 5 minute mile, I'm sure they will be impressed. Oh it might impress a bunch of medical students, but anyone that knows a thing about competetive track would laugh in your face.

Here is a good place to go discuss your prowess with "bulgarian weightlifting"
http://www.goheavy.com/forums/olympic/
Be sure to follow convention and convert whatever you decide you are going to claim to lift into kilograms, that way you will actually look like you know what you are talking about.

is that a declaration or an inquisition?

it was poorly phrased. it was several max. weight records in the country of bulgaria... i.e. bulgarian national weight-lifting records. it was the junior (under 16), under 70 class in squatting and deadlifting if you care to know.

I have to question how legitimate your claims are when you don't even know the difference between the sport of weightlifting (aka olympic weightlifting), which consists of the snatch and clean and jerk, and powerlifting which consists of the squat, bench press, and deadlift.

So here's a question for your logic. Let's say a physician has a traumatic event in his/her life after they are already a physician and it causes them to need psychiatric treatment...should they just stop practicing?

Also, have you ever been to therapy? You seem angry at the world and maybe it would help you. Good luck !

are you going to tell me which events i participated in and hold records in? and i don't think i made mention to the olympics or olypic-style lifts.

i do appreciate your concern, though.

Hahahaha....I was thinking the same thing. Cluster B comes to mind. Narcissistic PD perhaps? Maybe the B in "Type-B" atcually refers to his PD cluster.

you said "weightlifting" not powerlifting. If you know as much as you claim to know you would know that olympic weightlifting is simply known as weightlifting when referring to the competetive sport. Besides there is no 70 kg. class in the IPF.

I'd rather have a doctor who is recovering from a mental illness than an arrogant one.

Why do you all keep feeding this guy? He's been roaming these forums for months letting people think that he's everything from pre-med to med student to an MD. Why not move this thread back to the original topic, which was how to manage mental illness as a medical student. It's a legitimate topic and can be covered without playing to this bozo.

I will say that he's the best troll in a long while. Trolls nowadays tend not to be subtle with their trolling. They just don't know how to do it right and end up getting banned after 5 posts. The older, talented, ones will eek out senseless debate in one place, then leave for another bridge. He'll play just under the radars of the troll seekers until he's lit another flame war and then move on again. I've got to give it to typeB-md for hacking out 100+ posts and hijacking threads for 4+ pages.

i don't know where you are getting your information from or why you think bulgaria may not have different regulations. it was a national junior weight-lifting competition. i know i competed in the under 70 class and i know that i beat the national record for the squat and deadlift. so you can keep going on and on all you like, and it will not change these facts. maybe things are different at the junior level (under 16 level), but i don't know.

hope this helps.

For a Bulgarian, your English is really quite good. Do they also let Bulgarians into the French National Chess Tournament? The first key to effective trolling is internal consistancy.

Edit: Let me guess, in all your immense international travel you were traversing around Europe picking up powerlifting meets and chess tournaments as you went around. Let me guess you also did a crane kick to beat the Cobra Kai dojo in the All-Valley Under 18 tournament in California.

i tend to disagree with what you are saying.

just because my ideas are unpopular does not make them wrong/trollish. a physician shouldn't be mentally compromised and that's all there is to it.

you wouldn't elect a president.... err... i guess i can see that you guys don't, in fact, value mental security that much.

i change my mind. i think we should do away with standardized testing and grades as well. who's to play god and say that ******s can't also be physicians?! Dr. trisomy 21 at your service!

the chess tournament was part of an american-sponsored effort to reclaim americans as potential threats in chess. i was 10 years old.

the bulgarian competition was done as i was spending a summer in bulgaria visiting family friends. i was 15 then.

i don't see what is so confounding about this.

Allison (Dr. Cameron) from the show "House."

Unless you are a Bulgarian citizen you did not set a "Bulgarian national weight-lifting record", you may have set some sort of club, meet, or facility record, or even exceeded their national record, but unless you are a Bulgarian citizen the record is not yours. Under your criteria I should just go on a world tour throwing the discus in the 150+ Nations where my PR would exceed their national record and claim those records for myself.

All I can say is, "wow". 😱 Unlike you, I do not put words into others mouths by editing their posts...just bolding their disturbing comments. You obviously will make an extremely sensitive and compassionate physician.

What question were you referring to?

I checked out his/her posts last week... maybe other people should take the time to do this as well. In the few months (I believe four) since he/she joined sdn look at the kind of comments he/she has made...and the riots they incite. They cause a complete diversion from the OPs original comments...some tangents are welcome, however, the virulent, unproductive battles that result from his/her posts are not!

Btw...congrats typeB-md...your trolling skills are astounding!

What question were you referring to?
i am referring to:

how can you heal others when you, the physician, are not stable?

and you are a puertorican lesbian... i should've guessed from your bleeding heart, nonsensical thoughts. it's obvious you have self-esteem issues and should work on feeling "accepted" before treating others.

so i'll answer the question for you. the correct response is that in order to heal others, you, yourself must be of sound mind. if you can't take care of your own problems, i don't put much faith in your abilities to take care of other people's problems.

If you think that you are going to fluster me by bringing up my ethnicity and sexuality, you are wrong. Sorry...try again later (think the game Mall Madness). What is your point about those two things? I don't see how they effect your argument at all. What young person in their early twenties does NOT have self-esteem issues... wait, other than you. Obviously you are the epitome of well-adjusted since you spend most of your time in these forums insulting others instead of examining the issues at hand. I don't have a bleeding heart. It's called compassion, sweetie. You wouldn't know because you have yet to find a spot of it in yourself. But, ignorance is no excuse.

I can take care of myself btw. How do you think I got through my life so far? Do you think I got a free ride and everyone made everything nice for me? Is that your assumption? I thought you were capable of more than that mode of thinking. I have never had any special accomodations for ANYTHING ... for being Latina, lesbian, or for having depression.

So since I have been able to get through my life pretty well if I do say so myself, why would anyone doubt my abilities as a physician?

Hey sweatpea,

Type-B is the only person here who doubts your ability as a physician due to mental illness. Don't get yourself bent out of shape trying to change his opinion cause he ain't gonna change it. And likewise, nothing he says is going to change our opinions about this issue.

So you just concentrate on relaxing before school starts 😉.

TYPE B MD:

It's been 10 months since Psych, so be patient.....

Axis I: A*#hole disorder NOS, delusional d/o
Axis II: Antisocial Personality disorder, Narcissistic personality traits
Axis III: Chronic neck pain from carrying around his gigantic head, as well as his innumerable Bulgarian weightlifting metals 😡
Axis IV: Some girl REALLY screwed him up...... 🙁
Axis V: deferred.....I'll base his GAF on whether or not he makes it through another year of med school without getting KTFO by somebody 😕
--Rx: BH2F q 4hrs/prn (backhand to face)

I really liked this guy at first after his "I want to punch you in your stupid pedantic face" comment awhile back....but I think that was the last witty thing I've seen written by him. Since then, it's been either 1. Straight mean comments 😴 , or 2. lay-ups (of course you'll find a stupid comment to rant about when you peruse the premed section).

I guess what I'm saying is WHO CARES what he says next...it's boring.
He says he RARELY studies and still kicks butt in school....WHO CARES? That was cool to brag about in college...now it means you're lazy and you aren't passionate about medicine.....What a great doctor you'll be!
He says he is a big shot bulgarian weightlifter. WHO CARES? I'm not impressed by how much he could squat as a 15 year old....he still acts like a walking hard-on.
Basically, Type B MD, I say get funnier or go away. You're getting everyone's panties in a bunch, and you're not entertaining me anymore. 👎

I read the first post on the last page of this thread and someone is accusing someone of being a gay puerto rican.

This whole thread has some serious potential if we stop feeding the damned trolls (I am guilty of it too... sometimes I just can't help myself).
