Medical How long should I wait to re-apply?

I'm in a situation where I'm currently waitlisted at four different schools, and haven't received any acceptances yet for this cycle. I'm hoping to get at least one acceptance before May, but if this doesn't happen, my question is this:

How long should I wait to hear back from the schools I'm waitlisted at before reapplying to the next cycle? In the case of one of the schools, they've stated that the earliest I would hear from them again was May. I've heard it said that it's best to apply as early as possible, but I'm in a situation where I could potentially spend a large sum of money on the next application cycle only to get off the waitlist for the previous cycle within the same month.

How important is it to apply as soon as the application opens, versus waiting to see what happens? How long should I wait? This is putting me in somewhat of a financial bind, but I'll do whatever it takes.
