How long should you shadow with a dentist before asking for a LOR?

I shadowed a dentist for a week right before the COVID virus started to get bad/the office closed. Do you think it is appropriate to ask for a letter of recommendation? This was the only office that I feel confident in getting a good LOR from.

You can ask them. Keep in touch w/ him/her even if you are not shadowing. Ask relevant questions, their thoughts on the future of profession, etc.
