I did my first block today and I was pretty surprised at how long it took me to read through all of the explanations - well over 2 hours. Is this common? Just wanted to see how this was for others.

I started off taking about 2 hours, but got down to about 30 minutes at the end (only reading the educational objectives). To move faster, you can mark longer explanations that would require too much time to annotate into FA.

Yeah it's taking me around that time and I'm on my 1st pass through the material. I'm hoping that educational objectives are enough for 2nd pass and I can get through more questions in a day.

So....1st pass, 50 questions, with reading of ALL explanation and subsequent annotation.

How long?

the maximum block is 46 questions (like on the real test). It takes me ~50 minutes to answer the questions and another 3 1/2 hours to go through all of the explanations.

I'll always come across something in a few of the explanations that doesn't seem right and look it up quickly if it seems important (they usually have it right and that's how I learn).

Didn't expect it to take this long (but I also planned on getting through FA in 10 pages/hr 🙄).

I do them tutor mode and it takes me about 3 hours (used to be 4) to get through a block and more than 2 of those hours are on the answers/annotating. I was hoping it would go faster, but I'd rather make sure I'm learning/reinforcing concepts.

i only started doing blocks of questions this week and it takes me 30 min to do the questions and 2.5-3 hours to review them...i still have so much to learn! my averages are in the mid-high 40's.

I normally do three 15 question blocks on tutor mode. It takes me roughly 45 minutes each block. It is kind of hard for me to do 45/46 questions and review the answers without becoming exhausted.

Thanks for the replies, glad to see this is common for others. After doing some blocks and reviewing answers, I know it is worth the time investment, but it is pretty taxing and tedious.

1. It depends on your personal reading/learning/annotating speed I think.

2. It's always slow at the start. Initially it took me like 2-3 hours for one block of 46 questions, later on it slowed down to around 1.5 hours per block on tutor mode.

3. On second pass I'm planning to do all timed and go through the ones I got wrong (since I'll have everything annotated) - should shorten it to max 1-1.25 hours.

wow.. how long do you guys think it will take you to do a first pass? im doing it now and my exam is may 19 so i dont think ill be able to do a 2nd pass unless its just incorrect questions...

When you guys were going over your questions....Did you NOT look up diseases/drugs you had yet to learn as you were going through the explanations????

I feel sort of ocd about looking up diseases I haven't learned yet. It takes me almost a day just to go over an entire block of questions and annotate into FA. I try to skip to the FA section of diseases not relevant to the subject I am doing the questions in.

Should I keep doing this or is this too anal?
