I am currently working full time (40+ hours) and taking 1 course at a State University to improve my GPA.

On average, how many classes do non-trads take? And how many do you think med school committees want you to take? I mean I'm only taking 1 course (4units) compared to when I was undergrad taking 16-20units. Will they view taking only 1 course negatively?

Thanks for the input.

Im just taking orgo 1 with the lab to see how it pans out

i'd like to see the difference between the community college I was at and the 4 year university is

i am going to be working ft though so id like to see my limit

this semester i'm taking four classes, genetics, physics 2, chem 2, and calc 1. do not do this! this is probably my toughest semester every and i am so stressed out trying to manage everything. i feel like i'm running and running in place and not going anywhere. ok rant over. since your working full time i wouldn't take more than 2 classes at a time if you feel like you can handle it.

🙂 seriously i'd be happy taking those courses and not working at all

more interesting then working at my crappy job

ill trade you

Work: 40 hrs
Kids: 3
School: history, physics, chemistry, biology (15 c.h.)

For the last 5 quarters I did full time school (13-15 hours, 3 classes per quarter) and it was a lot. My schedule has me working quite a bit of hours (~80-90 per week) but the nature of my job allows me to do school work (albeit interrupted) while at work.

I honestly don't know how I would be able to handle a normal 9-5 and try to put a full class load on top of that.

(I took this quarter off, it's been a blessing to recharge)

The biggest hurdle for me is not going to be the additional horus required for class on top of a full-time job, but rather that my day job follows the standard 9 - 5 schedule. There are only so many options available for night classes, and paramedic class already burdens me with a full course load for the remainder of the year.

Why don't more people want to spend their Saturday and Sunday in class?!?!😕

Work 40 hours and only 8 credits (Chem and Bio) this semester. In all fairness, my firstborn came this semester so I figured I should go lighter.

Taking 2 courses (8 credits) over summer and then 14 C.H. in Fall. I'm still pursuing my bachelor's though. Next year I will finally be taking upper division courses for my major so I imagine the load will be easier to bear because it will be more interesting to me.

i am taking 4 courses now and will be taking 4 in the fall for 15 units:

ochem 1 w/lab
phys 2 w/lab
Cell Biology
General Entomology w/lab

no job, so going full time. no way i could do this or even 1 class with the demanding job i had before.

i feel this is about the right pace for me to get the grades i desire.

work: FT nights 45-55 hours. PT 20 hours.
kids: 3
credits: 20 (6 classes) including physics 2 retake and biochem

Strong f****** work, my friend. Medical school might end up being something of a break for you.

EDIT: StudyShy as well. Impressive.

Wow, that's crazy. Hats off to all of you taking so many credits and working full time. I hope you're taking care of yourselves and you don't burn out.

Typically I only took one class while working full time.

Last spring I took 4 classes but I wasn't working (organic chemistry, micro, a&p, and technical writing). Then I started working part time and took 3 in the fall (organic chemistry, general bio, and abnormal psychology). Now I work part time (under 20 hours a week), take only general bio 2, and I am prepping for the MCAT.
