i have 2 C's on my transcript, but I'm not worried that adcoms will think of me any less of a competitive applicant because of it.

Come on pal, if your signature is correct you have a 4.0. Some how I think adcoms will forgive you.

As for C's I have a few... I had to look it up.
Back in my (not so much) glory days...
English 1 - Cus I caint rite to good
Speech - Cus I caint speak to good
American History - AKA Nap time
Financial Accounting - Nuff said

Then I got my life together....
But Cs still creep up every now and again

Physics with Calculus Lab C+
Biochemistry C+

I know I will get into dental school.... You will survive.

1 C in immunology last summer, probably cuz it was just that summer , plus i was gettin my aadsas stuff together and I just got done with the DAT so i was in no mood to work. Anyways, i did fine in my prereq's so im not too worried. Watch, it'll probably come back to bite me in the ass, oh well, nothing i can do about it now. 😳

Getting C is the end of world. You are screwd man. Nobody gets into dental schools with C's in their transcript. I mean come on. seriously you have a 4.0 and if you do I think you know the answer to the question.
For the record. I have 2 D's, 5 C's but no F's or W's. I have been to 4 interviews and no one has mentioned anything about my grades or asked me anything about it. But out of 4 schools at two of them they said I have good grades(yes last 3 semesters but not over all). I don't know what they are talking about.

I do not know how your couse is designed, but I also am taking cell biology this semester and we still have 2 exams to go. so to anticipate a C in the class and you are a 4.0 student is questionable, i.e. you would have gotten a C on both first exams if you have 4 a semester. I am not bringing you down, but I am trying to give you hope of getting better than a C. If you get an A on the rest of your exams I am sure you would be able to get a B at least. If you end up with a C+, then all that is left since you cant take it over bc i am assuming you are a senior now, is to talk with the professor and let him know about dental school and I am sure by seeing the effort he will consider giving you a B. Good Luck anyhow 👍

This post is awesome. The amount of creativity I am feeling almost overwhelms me....I have a thought provoking question too....
How many of you pick your nose and wipe it under the seat while driving? C'mon, I'm serious.

Ohh! Me! Me!

Thank you for your honesty. I, too, am proud to say I pick my nose almost constantly when driving and have collected quite a nice collection of snot jerky...? Sorry folks. Also, sorry to inform you all that the orange juice "pulp" in from concentrate cans is really small shavings of plastic.

Lets see...

Chem 1 - C
Chem 2 - C
Orgo 2 - C
Bio 1 - C-
Genetics - C
Biochem - C
Intro. to philosophy - C+
Socioeconomic Perspectives on Inequality - C+
Cell Biology - C

Hmm...I think Im missing a few more. Thats just off the top of my head.

Another question how many D's did you get?

I have about 12 D's, but am independently wealthy. When schools deny me I send them a check and get an interview.

Why would I wipe boogers on my sweet leather MR2 seats? I flick em out the window and am a proud sponsor of public nose pickin' everywhere 😉

I have all C's and a few D's. But I'm not worried about getting into dental school. Actually, I think I'm going to scrap dental school all together and run for president. Maybe I'll run a failed basball team first! My daddy is really powerful and he thinks I'll make a swell presdint!

Political rants aside, don't sweat the C's too much. I have more than a few myself. You want to show schools progress!

And I like roll bugars into a little ball and flick them at other cars. It's more fun that way

^ thats my kaplan teacher! hahaha awesome use for boogers!

i have 2 C+ and 1 C....random question...what would happen if you made a D in your last semester if you are already accepted in to a d-school..do you think they will withdraw the offer of acceptance or would you have to make an F?..or doesn't matter as long as you make 4 A's in the other classes?

I had 4 Cs and still got accepted by my state school. Calc 1 & 2, Genetics, & Biochem 2. Stop worrying so much.

A D might actually keep you out, but depends on the schools. Some require you to maintain at least a B in all your remaining classes.

are you serious?

three Cs
however, the only school that asked about my C was Columbia and they didn't pressure me too much on it; I think as long as they see that your overall academic performance is not completely hopeless and that you do decently well in other subjects a few Cs won't kill ya
Good Luck! 👍

I got a C in 3rd quarter physics, and 2 F's (english and stats) all during spring quarter of my freshman year. That quarter my gpa was 0.97. :scared:

I did explain reasons for such a poor performance on my AADSAS application. Then I retook the classes and got A's in them and ended up with a 3.45 gpa when I graduated.

No school asked about during my interview and it did not hurt my chances of getting into a good d-school.

A family friend of mine is a Dentist and he has always told me this very special equation:

C = DDS/DMD

What you all fail to realize is that C's are Average. I do not know about most of your schools, but at my College the usual incoming freshman class has a 95 average and a 1200 SAT score in High School. If I get all C's here, I would not mind being that kind of average.

So far I received 5 C's and counting…

Biology I C+ (That is after getting a 5 on the AP test the summer before)
Organic I C
Organic II C
Analytical Physics II C+
Cell Biology C

Sadly, I took the last three of those classes at once but there are more about a person than your GPA.

Be different.

1st semester freshman year I had 3 F's a C a D and a B. My gpa that semester was a 0.947 (beat that). Luckily I grew up and have been making A's and B's ever since. I've only made 2 C's since then, and they were in physical geography (self-explanatory) and Genetics, which I've retaken. I think if your grades show an upward trend and you've displayed some academic maturity, then ur good...at least I hope.

I have receieved 3C's and 4D's. However, I retook two classes with D's and got A-'s and classes with C's were non-science(non sense) classes and I didn't bother to take them again. I was asked about it in only one out of six interviews I attended, at Michigan and I am going there. I have learned that telling the truth when it comes to interview is the best thing to do. I told my interviewer that I screwed up on my D's and I didn't take study seriously at that time but now I am a different person who values education and I am serious now. I guess it worked.

Hey, have any of you who have been accepted have ever been in "Academic Probation" (which is plastered in your transcript)?

0 C's and D's. Damn proud of it. In fact, I don't think I've ever gotten below a B- in my life.

I prefer to keep myself within a safe distance away from failing a course.

Have a couple of C's and damn proud of it, cause its freakin impossible to pull an A in Immunology and Biochemistry at my school. Those who got A's have never shown their faces because they have locked themselves in a room 24/7 studying and yes they are probably asian.

I have a question. If you have all A's and B's, how come your GPA isn't around a 3.5? what is your ratio of A's to B's ? but congrats on avoiding those C's...i have plenty of C' and D's.

Most of my grades are in the B range with a couple of A's and A-'s. I'm pretty consistent in trying to keep up with the mean grade for any class I took. It's pretty difficult to get an A in any sort of courses that is curved (pretty much most of my classes are like that) because there are always some people who just spends those extra all-nighters and are smart enough to get a 4.0 GPA. Most of my classes is curved to a B, so I'm actually pretty happy with my grades. I was lucky enough to get into Cornell in the first place, so being average doesn't really hurt my ego's.

1 C in second semester Physics - no one cares about that stupid magnatism stuff anyway. Was never asked about it specifically, but took the time to talk about it when asked "is there anything in your application you'd like to explain further?". Just own up the fact that you messed up once (or a few times) but learned from it and are now a better student for the experience.
