Hey guys! I was wondering how many deposits overall people are putting down on schools. I was planning on just putting down one.. But some people have been saying I should put down another just in case something happens. I disagree with their viewpoint but I wanted to see where other people stand.. Obviously there's indecision for other people that plays a role too 🙂

For what it's worth I put down one-- never was a problem. Unless you are waiting for scholarship news (HPSP, NHSC, etc), another school to accept you, or serious family/SO stuff, don't waste your money and mislead the other schools. You are gonna have to make a decision sooner or later...might as well save that cash.

My deposit for UConn is 1k. If I were to keep Columbia as a backup, its deposit would be 2k. Combined I'd be paying 3k. That is, if I had 3k left in the bank after those expensive interviews! In short, I might have put 2 deposits down if I could afford it.

Just the one. If you have your pre-reqs fulfilled and you know which school youre most interested in then there is no need to be the worry wart and put down multiple deposits. I would only put down multiple deposits if I knew something on my app or academic update or something had the potential to force a school to revoke my acceptance.

I would also remind you that schools get a list of people who are holding multiple spots, and may rescind their acceptance if you are holding a spot at another school. I wouldn't risk it unless you have some extenuating circumstances that would necessitate holding two spots.

Not until April and they would give you a chance to decide between them before rescinding their offer.

I totally agree with all you guys. I'm just putting down one deposit I just wanna see where other people stand 🙂

Thats in april 😛

One month should be more than enough time to make a decision, unless you have a spouse or significant other that wants to see where they will be spending the next 4 years

When you're having a hard time deciding between menu items at a restaurant do you just order them all and then choose once they arrive at your table? I do not understand the dilemma unless you literally have thousands of dollars laying around that you must dispose of before new years. 1 month since acceptance + several months since interviews + several months since applying = ???
